The life of the shepherds in Kazakhstan's Hunger Steppe "is hard: the daily care of food and water for the herds, the Wait in the small tent, the incessant wind and the seemingly limitless expanse of parched land. Asa returns from his military service as a sailor back in this world, living in his sister Samal and his brother-Ondas with their children as a shepherd family. Asa wants to get married to yourself to get a herd and start a family. The only possible bride is far and wide, Tulpan, which rejects him. His inept handling of the sheep, leading to conflicts with his brother. Asa seems to be no place in this world.
