A moment of freedom

Two young Iranians, Ali and Merdad leave Iran to bring its cousin, the seven-year Asy, and their five year old brother Arman to her parents in Austria. Is difficult to say goodbye to the grandparents, the dangerous escape over the mountains. In a shabby hotel in the Turkish capital Ankara to find an accommodation where they wait for the approval of their applications for asylum. Other immigrants share their fate: a couple and their son are fighting desperately for recognition as political refugees, or an older teacher and a young Kurd who handle optimistic and humorous with their desperate situation. They are people in transit, the authorities comes under threat of deportation and resignation. At the same time but also full of courage, because they seek a life in freedom, without the oppression of state violence. Merdad falls, while the political refugee, life takes. Agonizing uncertainty and encouraging hope alternate daily. [ More ]
