The 17-year-old Kurd Bilal has fled from Iraq and has reached the wrong path, the northern French coast at Calais. From here he wants to go to England to see his friend Mina, who left the country shortly before him. An attempt to hide in a truck with other migrants to enter Britain fails. Bilal is looking for a new way and decides to break the English Channel swim. The swimming instructor Simon, who is facing the fate of the refugees rather indifferent, he takes lessons.
